Welcoming Congregation

First Unitarian Church of Lynchburg is an LGBTQ Welcoming Congregation.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lynchburg officially became a Welcoming Congregation on January 25, 2009. We strive to create a safe haven for those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Green Sanctuary

One of our major achievements as a congregation was to earn the Green Sanctuary Accreditation from the Unitarian Universalist Association on September 5, 2013. our Green Living Committee, under the leadership of Bob and Makanah Morriss, completed the process outlined here and continues to promote healthy, eco-conscious practices in our church community.

Peace Pole

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lynchburg Peace Pole in Lynchburg Virginia.
One of our defining physical features is our Peace Pole, located outside of the main building just behind Unitarian House. This tangible symbol of harmony and good will was erected on December 10, 2006. On the pole are plaques that read “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in several languages, including:
